"The Subway"

The incredible, and infamous, Subway takes some effort to reach, but the wondrous scenic opportunities are worth every bump, bruise and scrape... and even the wet workout that's required. The Subway (also known as the Left Fork of North Creek) is a stunning 1/4 mile section of Utah's "Zion Narrows," a fantastic canyon as potentially dangerous as it is beautiful.

Deep inside The Subway, shy shafts of sunlight flirt lightly with water-filled potholes, polished, colorful rock walls and algae-laden pools, bringing spectacular life to a subterranean world. The mesmerizing sound of trickling water echoes all around, rolling off the rounded curves of this magnificent tunnel.

Stephen, It looks like I was there about 7-10 days later than your arrival. There had to be 500 leaves scattered on that magnificient floor. If you have not been there in previous years those pools are normally a rich turquoise blue. The winter or early spring delivered truckloads of sand & silt downstream into those pools changing the water to that beautiful yellowish green. I wonder how long that sand will remain. The big pools where you set your tripod are normally 5-7 feet deep. This is one of my top 3 locations EVER. Glad you found time to go!
